We sighted U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice shopping in Dupont Circle along with her security detail. Those guys meant business.

Finally...
Perfectly Sweet

So we are at this little diner in quaint Occoquan, a little historic town down by the river. Great coffee, but NO SPLENDA??? I guess this is as good of time as any to tell you about Perfectly Sweet...
In college, I lived with Phyllis, aka my "2nd Mom" (or as my biological Mom liked to refer to her - my "Rich Mom"). Her husband to be (Ron) hunted with my Father and she liked the extra company after her kids were grown and out on their own, so I rented a room from her. Well this was before Splenda came along and Phyllis taught me (among other things) that blending equal parts Sweet and Low and Equal would provide a unique sweetner that had very little aftertaste (like they cancelled each other out or something) and tasted more like real sugar than one kind alone. Well my father spent some weekends with Phyllis and Ron and also had been introduced to this little trick. This is best demonstrated with Coffee for some reason. Most of the people that I have shown have agreed that this makes for a fine sugar substitute. So, I have discussed with my father and close friends the idea of developing the next artificial sweetner to be called Perfectly Sweet. It would be the Purple packet. The kind of purple you get by blending pink and blue. Get it? Why would I tell you this now? Well I have a lot of priorities in life before Purfectly Sweet, not to mention seed money for my little venture. So I figured if I document the idea in this hear blog, for all of the world to see, that I would be able to prove that it was my idea when it shows up somewhere.

Keeping a cool head...
I purchased John Frieda Collection's Root Awakening shampoo/conditioner for the trip. It feels like I have been showering with Icy/Hot.

Sleep
Not much compares to the tempur pedic back home, but waking up to a pretty restfull night. Marriott has a sleep menu next to the bed - room service, I'll take coffee, continental express, two pillows to go and a boxspring at checkout. It was probably J's best night lately. We both are suffering from that tickle cough that comes outta nowhere after being sick for a while. We stopped at CVS last night for cough medicine (Delsym 12 hour) and went easy on the alcohol. It is the stuff that the kids are doing these days, as the receipt printed an abuse warning, legal purchase age of syrup and hotline. Ironically, we purchased in the pediatric section. How is that for effective marketing? Tobacco companies aint got shit on Delsym. Go figure.

We went to Daks for dinner in Woodbridge, VA. It is on the National Historic Registry, as it used to be a dairy farmhouse and then pharmacy. We called ahead and they said they served dinner until 11p. Well at 1015, after we sat, they decided to go to appetizers only. Well I had a great orange beer, Shock Top, very much like Blue Moon, but better. Also the best rasberry poppy seed dressing on the salad that I bribed the waiter to bring me. The naval (and I am not talking Oranges) eye candy was well worth the lack of entree's.
